To share my design work, I've assembled three portfolio case studies:
Nima empowers people with food sensitivities to take the risk out of dining out. Nima's portable food tester and mobile app are a core daily part of thousands of people's lives. Nima has received Series A funding from Upfront Ventures, Mitch Kapor, Matt Rogers, Lemnos Labs, Foundry Group, and more.
As Nima's only designer, I lead Nima's digital products and overall experience. From initiative to ship, I create design strategies, user research plans, UX wireframes, prototypes, and polished visual design for our iOS/Android app, website, and e-commerce. I've also directed a brand redesign, which included our marketing strategy, email on-boarding experience, product photography & illustration, and packaging design. As an advocate for our users, I help guide our team towards human-centred design processes. As my own product manager, I separate short-term vs long-term goals into scoped design & engineering initiatives.
Freelance • October 2017 – May 2018. I’ve designed the brands and core product experiences for 5 venture-backed start-ups. I select clients who want to move their business forward through short-term, high-impact product design. I product manage myself, employ world-class design standards, and deliver user-tested designs on time.
Kettle, Product Designer • June – September 2016. Kettle helps fast-growing companies break down silos and improve retention. We used strategic surveys to connect the right employees with each other. I informed our team through user research and sales meetings with enterprise clients. I led our product design, from collaborative brainstorms with clients, to wireframing and prototyping with users, to prototyping functional apps "in the wild" with our clients.
Tuul, UX Designer • June 2014 – June 2015. Tuul's suite of enterprise tools reduces the communication friction between customers and companies. My summer internship at Tuul evolved into a full-time UX/UI Design role. I led the information architecture of a full-stack customer support solution. I designed a Customer Support Representative chat interface, with robust ticket and workflow management system, along with Business Dashboards for executives and a Mobile App for field technicians. I applied our brand and worked closely with a visual designer and a product manager.
Product Design at Stanford
B.S. Product Design, Stanford University • 2012 - 2016. Stanford's Product Design major is run by David Kelley, founder of IDEO. We apply the Design Thinking process in all of our work, (1) talking directly to our users, (2) rigorously defining user needs, (3) ideating widely across disciplines, (4) rapidly prototyping our designs in the real world, (5) measuring results and iterating quickly.
Music Producer, Wiley Webb • 2009 - 2013. I composed, produced, and marketed original electronic music. I've composed the scores of Oscar-nominated films, built an active fanbase and 500K+ listens, and met my musical heroes. I learned how to get the advice of experts, present my work, earn significant income from performing and licensing, and solve complex musical problems with elegant music production solutions.
Director, Stanford Concert Network • 2013 2014. I managed a budget of $200k and team of 5+. We threw both small and major ($100k+ budgets) concerts on Stanford campus. I realised that I was a designer and not an artist when I found myself enjoying designing the experience of a concert far more than performing on stage for thousands of people.
